Between these and Flip covers, we have a great stash of cute, effective diaper covers.
Between these and Flip covers, we have a great stash of cute, effective diaper covers. The Thirsties size ones fit earlier on, then the flip one size covers the middle ground well, overlapping with both sizes of the duo wrap, and the Thirsties size two are larger still than the flips when at the largest settings, so I anticipate leaning more on those closer to potty training. I love the gussets on the Thirsties for extra leak containment. However a lot of it has to do with proper sizing, and my baby is evidence that sizing guidelines are just that: guidelines. My little guy is about 19 pounds at just over four months, and we had our first ever cloth diaper leak when I put him in a size 2 of the Thirsties duo wrap. I'd been favoring my flip covers as we moved up to red edge fitteds, and had assumed he was out of the size one Thirsties. But I guess because my son is 77th percentile in weight and 95th percentile in height, that his particular body shape can wear the size ones for little bit longer, at least if he's in a fitted diaper. I haven't tried out a red edge prefold yet.
Have these in both sizes and am very happy with them.
Have these in both sizes and am very happy with them. Size one fit from 2 weeks to six months, size two still has plenty of room at 11 months (waist setting still on almost smallest). Prints are adorable, leg gussets functional, fit over workhorse fitteds and GMD prefolds is very good. I have six, but could easily get by with just three.
I absolutely love these covers.
I absolutely love these covers. I have a tiny baby, and the size 1 still fits at 3 months/13 lbs. We don't even undo them all of the way yet. I have NEVER had a leak with these for either pee or breast fed poop. I can easily rinse them in a sink of I am on the go and she gets poop on the cover. Also, if the little white part on the leg gets poop on it, I just sun it and it returns too bright white. I'll never buy a different cover, except to go up to size 2. These meet every expectation.
I adore my Thirsties Duo Wraps.
I adore my Thirsties Duo Wraps. I definitely recommend snaps. I believe they will hold up so we can use them again on our next child. We have been using size 1 with cloth-eez prefolds since my daughter was 2 weeks old. She was petite and not quite 7 lbs when we started. They fit great and I'm sure they would have fit right from birth as well. She is 5 1/2 months now and 14 lbs and she still fits in size 1. Even though she is petite, I doubt she will still fit in them beyond 7 months. I also bought a bunch of GroVia hybrid one-size diapers which are great, but expensive and they did not fit until she was 3 months. We use them mostly for naps and night time because they keep her skin dry, unlike cotton prefolds. If I could do it again, I would buy only Thirsties, start with just maybe 4 size 1 (so easy to hand wash), then invest in a few more for a small baby, or go ahead and get size 2 for a bigger baby. Newborn and small prefolds fit size 1. Small, medium and I assume large (have not tried) will fit size 2. For sleeping I would purchase Thirsties stay dry inserts, or some kind of fleece liner to wick away moisture. ALSO, you do not have to pin prefolds under this cover, just fold them and if you want, flair out the back for better bum coverage. I have never had a blowout even with no pinning. SO EASY! Good luck with your cloth diapering adventure!
I am visiting the site to purchase size 2 thirties covers and red edge prefolds.
I am visiting the site to purchase size 2 thirties covers and red edge prefolds. These covers are fantastic! We've used the size 1s snaps for our little boy's first 9 mos. They are easy to clean, have held up well through many washings and haverarely leaked. We have a few AIOs as well and they have disappointed, we almost always have a leak with them. The microfiber on those doesn't go up high enough in the front to work well for little boys. Covers and prefolds are definitely the best way to go! I'm excited to see the new adorable line of ocean prints!
