If you don't have cotton baby wipes yet, add 2 or 3 packs of cloth wipes, too, or more. The Muslin Wipes can even be used as washable diaper liners if that suits you (optional).
The diapers and the covers in this kit are chosen with baby's comfort in mind. The size Intermediate prefolds are just a little bit less bulky than others, which is nice for fitting under clothes, and also nice for easy washing and faster drying. These items fit and work together well. Do you need to fasten the diaper under the cover? No. You can just lay the diaper in the cover and fasten the cover. But you can use the pins or the Snappi if you want to. We encourage you to give fastening a try! Once you get good at it, you will probably find that it does work a bit better when fastened. Many families fasten sometimes and trifold other times as is convenient. Do what works for you at various times of the day and at various stages of baby's ever-changing development. All of the absorbency is natural unbleached cotton made from organic sourced raw cotton fiber, so you'll need to do several hot wash cycles to prepare them for use. The initial wash cycles to wash off those natural cotton oils before first use is a one-time thing. Countries of origin found here.
