award winning cloth diaper, best cloth diaper Excellence proven for years.

Cloth-eez® Workhorse™ diapers are made of wonderful 100% cotton prefold diaper fabric in fitted diaper shape with a built in flap style doubler.

The body of the Workhorse diaper has 8 layers.  Sizes Medium, Large and XL have 8 layers in the flap for a total of 16 layers! Size Newborn and Small have a 6 layer flap which is a more appropriate thickness for a younger baby. As with any diaper, you can add a doubler or a preemie diaper for additional absorbency for long outings, naps or nighttime as needed.

Did you ever wish your lovely prefolds were shaped like a fitted? There is no better diapering fabric than the cotton prefold fabric. It washes so easily and wears so well. No polyester stink, no repelling, no special detergents are needed for 100% cotton diapers. The snaps are covered by the cotton fabric inside so no snaps touch baby. The flap style doubler is sewn inside in the back only for quick drying. See pictures on a baby here. Designed by Karen and made exclusively for Green Mountain Diapers. I love cotton diapers, especially prefolds, but sometimes a fitted style is preferred. This is an economy fitted with great low price and no confusing adjustments which create additional bumps and lumpy places. It's not fancy but it does the job really well at a great price. Sized diapers fit better than "one-size-fits-all" diapers because young babies are little and older babies are bigger. Yup, that's true. We made the wings a little longer on the no-closure version to give you more fabric to use for pinning or fastening them but the rise is the same for both versions. Consider baby's shape when choosing size. Long or tall babies or wide, round "booty" shapes will need to size-up sooner than narrow, flat-bottom shapes, who will stay in a smaller size longer. Sizing up for nights is sometimes a good idea, especially if baby is getting close to the weight recommendations for the next size. Very fast growing newborns can skip size small and go from Newborn to Medium. They are made of organic cotton. 100% cotton exclusive of trim. Made in Pakistan.

Want fewer size to buy?  Here's how.

To make this a Two-Size System, choose Small and Large.

To make this Three-Size System, choose Newborn and Medium then decide later if you want to go with Large or XL when the time comes. By then you'll know baby's shape and growth pattern.  I do prefer size newborn on a newborn baby so I like the 3 size option best.  This newborn size is not teeny-tiny.

Other considerations:  Sometimes girls tend to need bigger sizes sooner due to rounder bottoms than boys who sometimes have flatter bottoms.   When choosing ahead of time, it's always a guess, but a girl with a round bottom shape may do well with small to large while a boy with a flatter bottom may like newborn, medium then large and never get to XL.   Round booty uses up the rise faster than flatter shapes.

Size small is often skipped. A fast growing baby with a round booty might even skip size medium. too and go newborn to large with no problem. A 20 pound 4 month old needs size large, for example.

Just because many sizes are offered does not mean all the sizes are needed. This is true for prefolds, too.  Having options is great because if you are buying when baby is on the end of one size or another, having various size choices helps you get what works for you, with growing room, at the right time.  Size-skipping is great option.

Note: This is a diaper. It requires a cover (sold separately).  We strongly suggest fragrance-free laundry detergent choices.  "This is a diaper" means it is the absorbent part. Use a diaper cover over this diaper, which is not included, such as Thirsties Duo Wrap.

Sizing is approximate. Always wash only one if unsure of size.

Please wash several times before first use. Because this is unbleached organic cotton it needs quite a few preparation cycles to wash off the natural cotton oils before full absorbency is reached. This "prepping" (4 or more wash cycles) is a one-time thing. Link to more washing information.

I bought these for my son who is almost potty trained but still needs something at night and long car rides. They are just what I needed!

Durable on Third baby

My babies distribute the bulk of their weight on their bottom halves, so the large (brown edge) fits from 3+ months through their gaining mobility when they begin to thin out, and past 1 year. This 3mo boy is wearing a brown edge snap closure workhorse, with a GMD POSO (Pull On, Slip Off) Medium cover that lays so smooth in the front.

Works Differently This Time Around!

I bought these originally for my sons (newborn and age 2) to better keep bowel movements contained (my initial diaper stash had no elastics around the legs and poop would leak sometimes) and they worked great. THIS time, I'm using them for my newborn daughter, and the elastics don't seem to sit well on her thighs, and every time she poops, it leaks out the thigh area and onto the wool covers. I've tightened the snap area, and it still doesn't work. The diaper seems to fall below her belly, so maybe that's the problem. I have had better luck with my Osocozy stash. I guess some bodies just don't work well with these. But the diaper is very easy to use and clean!

Green Mountain Diapers

Hi Kelsey, thank you for your review. We are glad we were able to touch base about your concerns and hope all is well. The Medium Workhorse that you purchased for your 13 lb. 2 month old are a bit too large now, but soon they will fit very nicely. No closure Workhorse does give a more custom fit, especially when sizing up a bit early. However you can make the slightly too big Workhorse snap closure work by using pins or Snappi fasteners instead of the snaps-just ignore the snaps until they fall at the right place when snugly fastening the diaper. Newborns really do need either a Newborn size Workhorse or a Small size Workhorse, but since you were purchasing for your 2 month old, Medium did make sense. No worries, they will fit perfectly very soon. Thank you for shopping with us!

Can’t go wrong with the workhorse!

Love these diapers. I like having a mix of both snaps and no closure for ease of custom fit vs ease of use and night changes. I highly recommend skipping sizes! Most often I find it’s time to size up in the back rise before anything and my babe is average height but chunky and we never run out of snaps to fit at the waist. I also love the unbleached as they are the softest ones.
