I hate writing a negative review for anything on GMDs website, and to be fair, I knew in advance that these were either wonderful or horrible for other users. I found them to leak consistently regardless of the fact that they are not diaper. Neither of my children were able to pull them up or down on their own. When I pulled them up for them the velcro and snaps came undone each time, requiring me to lay them down to adjust them accordingly. Also, my daughter is 40# and these are tight on her, I do not see how they'd fit her at 50 pounds, but maybe she's curvy? The best thing, in my opinion, is that the cotton in the pads is very soft, and the colors are vibrant and happy. I sincerely wish I'd saved my money on these training pants.
We’ve been using cloth diapers since birth and my petite 23 mo is potty training and needed an option for daycare that detached on the sides and could be pulled up and down. We didn’t want to switch to disposable so we tried these. This is expensive, bulky in the front, and she screams when I try to put it on her like it’s uncomfortable. She usually pees in it and can’t pull it up and down herself. Since it’s bulky to pull down she sometimes ends up peeing on it or her pants. Poop is not easy to clean out if there is an accident and gets trapped up in all the crevices. Unfortunately we bought 2 sets with 2 extra covers. She has the fewest accidents in her disposable pull ups, maybe because they feel completely different from her cloth diapers.
I was looking for a Potty training help, and was gifted some flip trainer covers, I love that they have the stretchy sides for easy up & downs. And I found that padfolding a OS organic Birdseye flat in it is what works best for us
I used this cover for easy standing diaper changes once my little one was over a year old. We did part time EC with full time cloth diapering. I used this cover when we were out of the house for easy pottying/diaper changes in bathroom stalls. It was great for easy up and down. It washed well and lasted ok. We plan on using it with number 2. I agree that it would probably fit larger bottom babies better. My guy had thunder thighs so it worked great! I had some really old prefolds (from when my mom cloth diapered). I added my own hook&loop to the prefolds and used them with the hook&loop in the cover. The cover actually held the prefolds ok with no fastening because of the interior flaps. But the hook and loop helped them stay a little bit better. I wouldn't choose it for my full time cover. But for what i used it for, i loved it and thought it was a great cover!
I like the fit and look of this. I don't like the velcro in the flaps, it makes changing the liner a pain. I'm using it on my 1 year though, so maybe the velcro is necessary to hold the liner in on a bigger toddler who's even more active.
