Why wool? Wool is breathable. This cover is a favorite at nighttime because it virtually never leaks. The wool is totally untreated and is naturally antibacterial thus doesn't retain odors. Is wool itchy? Commercial wool can be, but this wool is untreated and wonderfully soft. Don't be afraid to try wool! This style has been loved for generations because it is so effective. The 2 layer double knit stretches for a gentle and comfortable fit over a very wide size range. A must for the family bed! Nighttime heavy wetter? This is the answer. It's cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Yes, really! That's because it's so breathable. Wool does need to be hand washed, and occasional lanolization is helpful. But washing is needed only very infrequently, sometimes only once a month. Wool airs out to fresh easily. View our video of how to wash wool here. Don't forget your wool care products. This wool is produced according to the organic standards. Lovely Merino wool. It was called Demeter Certified Organic, which is the highest of pure standards. Those standards are still maintained for beautiful Disana wools. Disana is a wonderful family business located in Germany, dedicated for 2 generations to organic wools and cottons, long before "organic" became a "thing". These are positively beautiful covers. It is knitted wool. We like nice long legs this has. No leg gaps with this one! Once fully broken in, the performance is great. Once prepared, I have never, ever had a leak from one! I think this is the only cover I can can say that about, under even my kiddo's hard and deliberate testing - pushing diapers and covers to their limits. It might be too small in the legs on extremely chubby legs. It is designed to shrink some, and should be prepared by handwashing and felting somewhat (shrunk a bit) before first use. Never machine wash this cover. Do not put it in the dryer. Gently hand wash only. Be sure to add the free How-To Booklet to your cart which has instructions on how to prepare them for use. It is normal and expected for the very fine merino wool to pill with use because it is very soft wool. It's ok to size up if you are in the upper end of the weight ranges that we suggest, they do shrink. Handwash only. Made in Germany.
My favorite nighttime cover hands down. Super easy to slip on and off, easy to spot scrub small dirty spots too. Very absorbent of wet nighttime diapers and dries quickly for use the next evening. Great product, I will continue to purchase as my baby grows.
This is our second Disana wool pull-on cover. We love them for night time coverage over a GMD workhorse with a bamboo insert. Never had any leaks with this combo! We have two of these covers and rotate them every night and only have to wash every other . They do run big, so I've never needed to size up even over lots of cloth.
Very warm and cozy. Not that soft initially but softens over time. Keeps bed dry even if cloth diaper is soaked.
Disana makes great products and these wool covers are no exception. Great once fully lanolized for diaper cover and we use for overnight and sometimes during the day too, as clothes.
This was the first wool cover I invested in for the newborn stage, and I felt like I was being really out there while doing it because my mind couldnt quite grasp how it would really work. But let me tell you this, wool is Amazing! It’s not only warm and breathable (compared to PUL covers) but it absorbs like 1/3 of it’s weight in moisture whixh means that for overnight scenarios, if your newborn starts sleeping well, you don’t have to wake them up for a change! That way their jammies or swaddle overtop doesn’t get wet from the extra moisture because it’s all getting in the wool cover and stating there. Washing and lanolizing the cover wasn’t as crazy as I thought it would be, the instructions that come with the cover are straightforward and easy to follow, and if you’re still confused (because I Way overthink things the first time around and doubt myself) the videos that are available on the GMD site are all you need to watch to set your mind at ease. I watched all the videos and realized how easy it actually was to keep my cover clean. Which leads me to my second favorite aspect of wool, the fact that you only have to wash ever 2-3 weeks, maybe even every 1 month, only when the cover actually smells like pee. Because all you have to do is air dry the cover between uses this cover made my life so easy. I’m honestly thinking for the next baby to invest in like 4 or 5 of these (and maaaaaybe a few PUL covers) over prefolds and call it a day. that way I’m just supporting natural fibers and fabrics and my baby is getting the most earth friendly and body friendly material next to his skin. And it works! I’ve used this cover as just pants as well becaus ets so cute and warm, and I’ve already bought my next size up for him at the 3 mo stage because he’s a chunker! And I’m def getting more!
