The best-loved flat on the market today! Beautiful double-woven muslin fabric made of organic cotton. Only from Green Mountain Diapers.

Sizes:

Newborn (birth to 2 months or 12 lbs.) 20" x 28" before washing, after washing about 19" x 27"

One-Size (2 months and up) 28" x 30"  before washing, after washing shrinks to around 27" x 27" to 28" x 28" inches.

All sizes are approximate. Shrinkage varies.

Need an even bigger size? This is also available in Swaddle/XLarge size.

How to you use a rectangular newborn flat?   Fold in one end and it becomes a square!   Then use the regular flat folds for square diapers from there, or just pad fold it.

muslin flat diaper wrapped around a baby

Shown is a size One-Size wrapped around baby with ends tucked in. No pins or fastener.  Of course you can use a fastener but it works OK to wrap and tuck since a wrap style diaper cover put over it helps to hold it together. See more pictures.  There are many ways to use these.  It's not scary!   They wash up so easy and the fabric is just amazing. The rave reviews are real and true. Try a six-pack.  If you don't love them as diapers, you have the best dish towels ever that will last for years and years.  Size Newborn is the perfect dish drying towel. You can't go wrong owning a pack of flats.

One-Size will work under size small or larger covers, but not size newborn, and will fit until potty learning.

Size One-Size is about same size as our size Small/One-Size Birdseye Flat  diaper, but this fabric is thicker so it is too much fabric for newborn babies. Our muslin is double woven which means it contains more cotton than typical muslins.  You can feel the quality difference.

how to use a flat muslin cloth diaper on a newborn baby  This is a size One-Size on a newborn baby.  Use a cover that is big enough to fit over all that diaper if you skip newborn size Muslin.  Size one-size is a lot of diaper and quite bulky on a new baby.  Most will prefer size newborn muslin at first. Newborn fits to around 12 pounds. Newborn muslin is more cotton (absorbency) than a newborn prefold but a bit less cotton than a small prefold. Size one-size is about the same amount of cotton as a size medium red edge prefold. They are substantial! Flats don't have any elastic or bumpy snaps or anything to disturb their comfort. Made of organically grown unbleached cotton.   This fabric stays the softest of all of the natural fiber diapers.

What is it? The words muslin and gauze mean the same thing. These are double weave, not the single weave that the popular swaddle blankets are. "Double weave" means that it is basically two layers of cloth woven together on the same loom at the same time to form one thicker layer. That's an oversimplification of the weaving process, but you end up with one layer of thicker fabric than you do from single weaving, yet it is still a one-layer fabric. Thicker means more absorbent, yet since it is still one layer, it has a nice, soft hand. It washes and dries easily and quickly!

This is another option for economical organic cloth diapering. It is like the made of Organic Birdseye Flat Diapers in size One-Size, or about a half inch bigger, but the sizes do vary due to shrinkage variations. These contain slightly more cotton so they are slightly more absorbent. The muslin (gauze) weave is a different weave, slightly thicker, than the birdseye weave, but they really are very similar. The absorbency is comparable to a size medium red edge prefold, whereas the Birdseye (Small/One-Size) is just bit less absorbent than these; closer to a size small yellow edge prefold or a bit more than a yellow edge small but less than a medium red edge prefold. These double weave muslin (gauze) will win in a side by side absorbency test. The birdseye is thus trimmer. So, that means that this muslin diaper in size One-Size is really too big on a newborn baby since it is bulkier, so that is why we offer size Newborn.

Since they are unbleached, please wash several times on hot before first use to prep them.  The natural cotton oils present in unbleached cotton must be washed off in those first several hot washes before full absorbency is reached.  Easy to wash, quick to dry.

Both of these Cloth-eez diapers start with the same organic cotton so the softness is very comparable even though they are woven differently.

Cloth-eez Muslin Diaper is only available from Green Mountain Diapers. It is an organic cotton double weave gauze diaper.

Made from 100% organic cotton, exclusive of trim. Edge thread and tag are nylon or polyester.  Made responsibly in Pakistan.  The cotton was grown in Turkey.

Please wash several times in hot water before first use. Link to more washing information.

For older babies or toddlers, consider Size Large Birdseye Organic Flats which has equivalent absorbency of the size one-size muslin flat. For older toddlers go with the XL Muslin Flat/Swaddle diaper.

My favorite cloth diaper

Once I switched to cloth diapering, I was using thirsties all in one natural diapers. They were great for my husband and I who were totally new to cloth diapering. However, she began to grow out of them and I really needed a new solution. I decided on flats for their cost, ease of wash and versatility paired with the thirsties duo wraps. WOW what a game changer! So much easier to wash, absorbent with your cotton liners…very easy. Was able to get husband on board once we figured out the origami for worked well for us! I am stocked up now for the next babe!

Perfect!

I am only three weeks into cloth diapering my 7 week old, but these muslin flats are IT! They are soft, absorbent and wash up SO incredibly well. I prefer my muslin flats far more than my birdseye flats from a different brand. I have been using the one size, and while they are bulky on a one month old, they fit him just fine. For reference, I started when he was 11 pounds and he is 13 pounds now. He has lots of room grow into them. I will definitely order more! I am so proud to put these on my baby.

Flats: I get the hype now!

I’ve used cloth diapers since 10 weeks (she’s now 18 months) using pockets and clotheez prefolds. I needed a few more diapers to stretch my wash so I decided to give flats a whirl. They don’t require much more folding than a prefold and works great in a pocket. The big difference is in the dry time, I was astounded! Great for a quick diaper right after washing, I can only imagine how fast it dries in the summer hanging in the sun!

Great Flats!

This is the second purchase of these flats, we really like the softness and thickness of these as compared to regular birdseye flats. If you’re looking for absorbency these are better, if you’re looking for a trim diaper these are a bit bulkier than the birdseye, but in my opinion they’re fully worth the extra dollar or two to buy these ones. In addition so far the GMD brand clotheez diapers are much better quality than the osocozy prefolds we had been using before. The cotton starts out much softer and the customer service is excellent! I appreciated them being happy to ship by our preferences and will gladly buy from them again in the future!
