Moisture resistant mattress protector. Breathable. 1/8" thick, hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial, chemical-free, dye free, flame resistant. Made with untreated wool.  You may see little specks still in the wool on the reverse side because the wool is minimally processed.  

Great for keeping your mattress protected from most kinds of liquids or stains. No treatments, no plasticizers. It is not waterproof like vinyl is. It protects by resisting moisture because it is wool and then absorbing when it needs to because it is wool in the same way a diaper cover works. Wool is hydrophobic (repels water) on the exterior of the fiber and hydrophilic (attracted to/absorbs water) on the interior of the fiber. It can absorb water. It’s moisture-resistant and moisture-absorbing at the same time. Wool is also very good at turning moisture into vapor, called hygroscopy, meaning it has moisture-wicking properties too. You can notice this because wet wool doesn’t feel as wet as wet cotton does. Wool is breathable and moisture-wicking. It is amazing. 

Wool is comfy (no crinkle noises) and not sweaty. Spot handwash if soiled, but the sheet over it keeps it nice. Dampness really does just air out. If you expect a lot of heavy wetness such as bed wetting, use some extra absorbency over it, between this and the sheet, such as a cotton blanket or a towel. That way you won't have to wash the wool. The cotton blanket will take up the flood and the wool will keep the moisture from going though and not have to absorb much so it will dry out quickly. The cotton will wash up and dry easily so this really works well to protect your mattress and still be easy, comfortable and breathable. With wool, you don't have sweaty waterproof plastic fabrics and no outgassing.

Washing instructions:  Hand rinsing cool water, use very little if any mild detergent, lay flat to dry. Lanolin is recommended.
