Built-in doubler-flap is attached at only one end for easy cleanup and quicker drying. Nicely absorbent. Quick to put on baby. See this on a baby
Cloth-eez® Workhorse™ diapers are made of wonderful 100% cotton prefold diaper fabric in fitted diaper shape with a built in flap style doubler. Newborn and small have 6 layers in the flap and medium and up have 8 layer flaps, which is age-appropriate layering. Did you ever wish your lovely prefolds were shaped like a fitted? There is no better diapering fabric than the cotton prefold fabric. It washes so easily and wears so well. No polyester stink, no repelling, no special detergents are needed for 100% cotton diapers. The snaps are covered by the cotton fabric inside so no snaps touch baby. The flap style doubler is sewn inside in the back only for quick drying. See pictures on a baby here. Designed by Karen and made exclusively for Green Mountain Diapers. I love cotton diapers, especially prefolds, but sometimes a fitted style is preferred. This is an economy fitted with great low price and no confusing adjustments which create additional bumps and lumpy places. It's not fancy but it does the job really well at a great price. Sized diapers fit better than "one-size-fits-all" diapers because young babies are little and older babies are bigger. Yup, that's true. We made the wings a little longer on the no-closure version to give you more fabric to use for pinning or fastening them but the rise is the same for both versions. Consider baby's shape when choosing size. Wide, round "booty" shapes will need to size-up sooner than narrow, flat-bottom shapes, who will stay in a smaller size longer. Very fast growing newborns can skip size small and go from Newborn to Medium. They are made of organic cotton. 100% cotton exclusive of trim. Made in Pakistan.
One FREE pair of pins is included with purchase of the no-closure version. That means one free pair per order, not per diaper. You re-use the same pair of pins over and over again. If you need more pins or other fasteners, see fasteners.
Please note that you can use any mainstream laundry detergent on cotton diapers. You do not need to purchase "special for cloth diapers" detergents. We do not sell them and they are not needed on prefolds or Workhorse diapers. Keep it simple. Use what you would normally use on your regular household laundry. We strongly suggest fragrance free laundry choices. This is a diaper which means it is the absorbent part. Use a diaper cover over this diaper, which is not included.
Please wash several times before first use. The white version needs a few cycles before first use. The organic unbleached version needs quite a few preparation cycles to wash off the natural cotton oils before full absorbency is reached. This "prepping" (4 or more wash cycles) is a one-time thing. The body is made of organic cotton. 100% cotton exclusive of trim. Made in Pakistan. Standard elastic at legs and waist which may contain latex. Nickel-free polyresin snaps. Edge thread and tag are nylon or polyester.
I was lucky to stumble upon green mountain diapers when researching cloth, and haven’t looked back since. These workhorse diapers are, simply put, wonderful. When paired with wool covers, they are absolutely fantastic for my little man (who I would call a moderate wetter). They absorb well and keep it all contained. I do have an observation that isn’t necessarily a negative. My son tends to outgrow one size before truly fitting into the next. Though they are a bit big on him, they have always worked just fine at absorbing and containing. I did want to mention this for those wondering about fit and transitioning between sizes. If I had to do it all again, I would stock up on some with snaps and some without. The ones with snaps are very easy for my dad and in-laws to maneuver. The ones without snaps, though, could be adjusted to better fit baby between sizes.
Always work wonderful
I love these diapers, especially the included insert that is attached to the diaper- it definitely helps with absorption.
I got a few of these secondhand and after baby was born I bought more because they’re just fantastic! Super absorbent, not too bulky, easy to wash. All around great cloth diapers. Definitely recommend!
These diapers are super absorbent and just great! We have had GMD flats, prefolds and fitteds in our stash since the beginning of our cloth diapering journey. Workhorse fitteds are a great option for naps and night time for their absorbency. Our LO is a heavy so for his nighttime set up we use a workhorse boosted with a Thirsties duo hemp prefold pad folded, then a Thirsties cover over top of it all. This has been our magic bullet solution for a heavy wetting 1-2 year old. Since our LO is now 2 years, he doesn’t have as much patience for a diaper change, we’ve now moved to using XL workhorses for all daytime and night time diapers. They are faster to get on for us than the flats and prefolds (no leg tucking necessary) although I do miss using my flats and prefolds because they were also great! We started with just a few workhorses and now have 24 in our stash and use XL prefolds on wash days if we are short in workhorses. The workhorses we outgrew are still in excellent condition and will be used for our next babe. These diapers were out to the test and they stand up really well!
