Sizes overlap and are approximate. Unbleached may shrink (quilt up) a little more than white or organic. Shrinkage is variable.
*Expect some variation. Washer style can affect final fully shrunk size. Front load washers or any style washer that pushes the fibers together during prepping (initial preparation washes) might shrink the cotton during prepping a bit more than a washer style that pulls on the fibers the fibers. That's ok and expected. Shrinkage is planned in to the sizes. A traditional top load machine usually pulls items down along the agitator, which is a pulling motion on the fibers. The lift-drop-curl motion of a front load machine pushes the fibers together. The motion style can affect the initial shrinkage but the amount of cotton remains the same with any style machine, thus the absorbency is the same. They don't keep shrinking after the initial prep cycles have been completed. We do not treat the cotton with silicone or such chemicals. It really is real cotton, which is great. That is what you want and need in a diaper. Prefolds fabric is a product from a grown plant, and might have some variations even from one diaper to the next. That is the nature of this lovely fabric. Our prefold fabric is the best that there is. Cloth-eez prefold fabric is known and loved as the best for over 17 years.
We had natural cotton oils removed from these using a bleach-free peroxide-based process without optical brighteners. They are creamy-white in color and don't need all that prepping to remove the natural cotton oils that are still present in the unbleached organic version.
SALE! Use code OrganicSpring to save an additional 15% on all organic prefolds through May 31.
Cheaper by the dozen. The price of 11 individual diapers is the same as 1 dozen, which is like getting 1 free diaper when you buy in dozens.
Stock Status: In stock. Usually ships the same or next business day.
UNIQUE FABRIC VERSION ONLY FROM CLOTH-EEZ. Made of organic cotton, we have already removed most of natural cotton oils for easier prepping*. Certified to Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex. True quality! Chlorine-free whitened without optical brighteners. Fewer prep cycles needed since the natural unbleached cotton oils have already been removed - but not with chlorine bleach. They are peroxide bathed (similar to Oxi Clean) to remove the natural oils. Why this version? Lovely organic without a zillion prepping cycles!
*Prepping means initial wash cycles before first use. You still have to wash them through a few times, like you would with any new product, but these don't need as many cycles as the unbleached organic version need before they are ready use on the baby. Thus, these are faster to prep ("prep" means prepare).
Replace your stinky microfiber inserts with these. Measure your inserts and compare them to the shrunk measurements on the size chart. Novice light green edge is the most popular size for stuffing in one-size pocket diapers. For fully unsnapped rise, Intermediate light blue edge is good but some still prefer novice when trimness is the priority. These diapers are thick, so the Novice and Intermediate tend to give the best fit and are still much more absorbent than microfiber inserts. You'll love them stuffed or just placed in the pocket with the cotton next to baby. That's fast, easy and absorbs quickly for no repelling issues at all. Try it!
Please refer to pictures on babies and the Size Chart prior to purchasing.
As with all clothing, size recommendations are suggestions and not guaranteed. If unsure of size please wash only one or two; unwashed items are returnable but washed items are not.

Cloth-eez® Prefolds actually fit. A diaper that fits works best. One-size-fits-all really doesn't "fit all". Does a diaper that fits a 2 year old really fit your newborn? Nope. The right size for the right age and weight works best! Diapers that fit and wash easily are diapers you will use. These are the "top of the pile" diapers that you will reach for first and enjoy using.
These diapers are certified to Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex, as are all Cloth-eez brand cotton products. Additionally, this version of the prefold diapers is made of organic cotton. We purchase certified organic cotton which is then woven to our specifications, then cut, folded and sewn to become these beautiful diapers. Only the cotton itself is organic, not the entire process. We are proud to achieve the OEKO-TEX-100 certification of the diapers. This white version has already had the natural cotton oils removed using a peroxide based, chlorine-free whitening process without optical brighteners. Fewer preparation wash cycles are needed since we have already removed the natural cotton oils. The organic unbleached version still has the natural cotton oils and is tan in color.
Faster prepping!
Affectionately known as "GMD Prefolds". These are hard-to-find, top quality, heavyweight 100 % cotton twill diapers. These are the real thing, and so very well made. They are far superior to the store bought kind, and will stand up to repeated washings. Be realistic about the longevity of any diapering item and don't be wowed by unrealistic claims. They are durable and last very well but not forever. They wash and dry very easily and never get that "icky polyester stink". The twill weave allows pins to slide through them easily without making holes in the fabric. But you don't have to fasten them. You can just fold the diaper in thirds and place it in a wrap style cover. You will not be disappointed in these wonderful, versatile diapers. You will find the "prefold love" with Cloth-eez® prefolds. Diapering with prefolds that fit really is easy.
Why choose which version? You like organic but either prefer the white color or not want to do all the many preparation cycles that the unbleached organic version require.
One FREE pair of pins per order is available with purchase of this item when you add the pins to your cart through this Link.
Please wash several times before first use. This is called prepping. Instructions are included in your order. Link to more washing information.
Please note that you can use any mainstream laundry detergent on cotton diapers. You do not need to purchase "special for cloth diapers" detergents. We do not sell them and they are not needed on prefolds or Workhorse diapers. Keep it simple. Use what you would normally use on your regular household laundry. Use whatever you happen to like that works in your water, but we do strongly suggest fragrance-free versions for use around a baby.
100% cotton, exclusive of trim. Edge thread and tag are nylon or polyester. Made responsibly in Pakistan

I bought the xl for my almost 3 year old heavy wetter who refuses to potty train. I cloth diapered my son, now 5, and my daughter almost the entire time. I've purchased prefolds before, but never this brand (or, the correct size) so my previous prefolds success was not too good. I am amazed with these! Super soft and flexible, easy to get a good fit. I top with a thirsties cover, and we've seldom had a leak. Wish I would have gone this route from the beginning, it would have saved me tons of money and dozens of types of cloth diapers. They also wash surprisingly well even in my he washer. I recommend everyone purchase some of the xl size because they are also perfect for changing pads, toddler pillow protector under the pillowcase, cat blanket, lap blanket, etc. Plenty of uses! Photos are my 30 ish pound 3 year old, size xl, folded down in back and bikini twist fold.
We transitioned our newborn into these around 8 weeks old and 11lbs. They keep the mess in and wash easily. We'll keep buying these prefolds as our baby grows!
I practice daytime elimination communication with my 6 month old baby, and we use cloth as our back up. Recently I bought a dozen novice prefolds during GMD's sale to add to my stash. The organic white prefolds were very easy to prep and are performing beautifully! I tri-fold the prefolds, and they fit perfectly into our size 2 Thirsties duo wraps. I also purchased a handful of other sizes (small, intermediate, and medium) to use during naps and outings. Very pleased with these diapers! I wish I had discovered GMD back when I started my cloth diaper journey 11 years ago.
I love how absorbent and easy to use these prefolds are. They wash easily and layer well when needed. My only problem is a self inflicted one- I bought them too big! For reference my baby is 14 lbs and 4 months, they’re a bit big for the one size covers she’s in so we have to fold the ends. Still work great, just a bit bulky! Thankfully I know they’ll grow with her and I can order small ones for my next baby someday.
These prefold diapers are beautiful! I washed and dried them three times as recommended and they are super quilty, nice and absorbent. When you first get them they are flat and they look super big but once you wash them they are the perfect size and so so quilty! We are using diaper service now but will stop service next months so we are getting ready with our own diapers, our baby weighs 20 lbs we purchased the XLarge organic white prefolds. We love these diapers. We also highly recommend Green Mountains wool diaper covers.
