Muslin blanket made of organic 100% cotton.  Two layers of 3-ply muslin cloth, which is 6 layers total, 180 gsm. Quality muslin organic cotton natural fiber goodness.

Size:   "My Side"  50" x 88". SOLD OUT

New Size! Twin size muslin blanket made of 100% organic cotton. Twin is 67" wide x 89" long, which is a standard twin size blanket.

For reference: The surface of a twin bed is 38" x 75"

The surface of a king bed is 76" x 80"

Twin size after shrinkage it is about 65-69" wide x 88-90" long. Shrinkage varies slightly due to the nature of muslin fabric it also varies by style of washing machine used. This is a standard Twin size blanket.  (This is the same length as the former My Side blankets were but this is 15 inches wider than My Side blankets were.)

The weight is really nice. It is lightweight. It's not heavy but it is significantly more than just a sheet.  Perfect on a hot night to feel covered without any sweaty synthetics.  Perfect under another blanket on cool nights to flop nicely around your body better than a sheet does. The material is high quality cotton. It doesn't "stick to you". Natural cotton doesn't have a static problem.  The floppiness is nice to snuggle around you to keep you cozy.  It has the right "flop" or a nice soft "hand".  Fall in love with organic crinkle muslin fabric!

If you are looking for a "showpiece", this is not it. We are making this to be comfortable, used daily, washed often, moved all around the house as needed and even taken camping. Our idea is to make something really great that works. It is not fancy. It has turned stitching at edges without any synthetic trim pieces or fancy scalloping or what-have-you. Thus the edges stay soft and are cozy right up to your face.  It washes easily so you can wash it often.  It fits in the washer - no problem there. This is sure to be a favorite.

100% cotton is not sweaty like polyester and other synthetics are.

Natural fibers in your sleep area make such a big difference to sleep quality and comfort.

Our Crinkle Muslin is made of organic 100% cotton 180gsm Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certified to be free of harmful substances. Certificate number 17.HPK.12333.  While it is made of certified organic cotton, the end product is not certified and you can read more about our cotton here

The quality of the cotton and the weave is significantly higher than economy made in China brands that we tested. Our weave is tighter and the cotton is softer. Compared to the expensive ones from big brand stores, which are nice, our price is less expensive than similar muslin blankets. Our weave is a little tighter, smoother (a little more like a layered sheet) and just slightly heavier per layer. Ours are 2 layers of 3 ply crinkle muslin whereas the very pricey ones may have more layers or different layering. Each brand is unique and they are different. To compare, this blanket is heavier than a lightweight version of a big brand that costs quite a bit more.  Compared to a year-round version that costs a whole lot more, ours is lighter and less layers. You could buy two of these to layer on top of each other and it would be heavier and warmer than the year-round other brand version and you'd still pay less than one of theirs. Plus, two separate blankets is more flexible and much easier to wash than one big heavy thing anyhow.

If you fear washing blankets because they make your machine go off balance and won't fully spin the water out, this is a great choice. This is as easy to wash and dry as towels are.  It's practical.  As you read around the site you will recognize that Green Mountain Diapers is very focused on practicality and natural fibers.

Colors: Unbleached organic is just that. White is free of optical brighteners and thus 9it is creamy white, not bright white. The colors are dyed and meet stringent safety and are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.

These blankets are not prewashed. Please wash and dry before using.  They look smooth and flat when new in the package, but after just one wash it is crinkly soft like in the pictures. Gets even better with subsequent washes. They will shrink to the stated size and fluff up after washing. Shrinkage will vary somewhat.

See before and after washing videos.

Custom made for Green Mountain Diapers in Pakistan.

Contents: Made of 100% organic cotton, exclusive of trim (trim means the sewing thread and the required small tag are not made of organic cotton).

100% organic cotton is 180 gsm. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified to be free of harmful substances. Certificate number 20.HPK.35238.

White and natural unbleached are made without dyes. The colors are dyed and certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for safety.  The white is creamy white, not bright white, because we do not use optical brighteners.

Notes from Karen:

We do not prewash our blankets for a few reasons.  Prewashing is another step that costs money which would make the price higher.  Prewashing makes the cotton fluff up a lot. That means they take up more room for shipping. Fluffier prewashed blankets cost more to ship than smaller blankets. Shipping is a big expense.  Both of these factors add to the price of prewashed items and keeping prices down helps a bit. The industrial prewash has a slight laundry smell. We strongly prefer totally fragrance-free laundry products and don't want to bring anything with any odors into our fulfillment area.  GMD is fragrance-free and many of our customers have fragrance-free homes.  It takes fewer washes, usually just two cycles, to fully prep a blanket that is not prewashed - but takes about 5 cycles to wash out the prewash laundry smell from a prewashed muslin blanket. It makes good sense to not prewash them. The result is that we are able to offer these lovely blankets at a lower price than similar blankets.

We are required by law to tag bedding properly but you are free to cut off the tags.  You own it and you can do what you want to with it. We made the tags as small and as soft as we could.

PREPPING INFORMATION:  When brand new, flatten the edges before you wash them if the layers aren't perfectly flat. This means line up the layers and get the edges to lay as flat as possible, especially on the long side. If necessary, flap and scoot layers a bit if they aren't perfectly lined up BEFORE the first wash. Spending a few minutes doing this will help your blanket lay flatter.  After the first wash, flatten the edges again before drying. Once washed and dried, the layers shrink together and become as one layer. This doesn't need to be done again.  Taking the time to get them lined up well in the beginning is worth it. If you skip this step you might have slightly folded over edges on the long side but that is ok. It doesn't create a bump. It's fine. Shrinkage variability is the nature of this kind of fabric.
