Lola & Taylor calls this a "Diaper Cover" but we can't call it that because in the cloth diaper realm, diaper cover means outer waterproof layer - and this item is not that. This is really like a pair of organic cotton underwear but not exactly. The leg openings are good-sized, so they are easy to get on and off. Unisex styling. A hard-to-find item.
Sizes run big! Since they are made to go over a diaper, they run big. For size 3-6 months, I would say would fit 20 -27 pounds since they are close in size to Thirsties Potty Training Pant size Small.
Size 18-24 months I would say fits 26-35 pounds, more like a medium Thirsties Potty Training Pant.
Size 2-3 year is a little bigger than Thirsties Potty Training Pant sizes Large, which is for 33-45 pounds.
Some shrinkage is expected though and if you are putting them over a diaper, then I still think they run quite big.
Made with 95% organic cotton fabric that is sustainably produced, plus 5% Elastane for stretch, this is designed to go over a disposable diaper to cover it up - so that you and baby have the lovely feel and look of the cotton over it.
The shape is like a pair of training pants, but it is one layer only. It does not have any padding.
Note from Karen: Try using this over a wrapped flat. When you don't want to use pins or a Snappi, you can wrap a flat around baby and tuck the ends in. The ends won't stay tucked very long as baby moves around, but it will stay long enough to get these little undies pulled up over it. Pull these over it and the diaper will stay put because the underwear will hold it all in place. For using it over a diaper, especially a big nighttime diaper, then the size names might be closer to accurate. This can be a great solution for overnight because you can pull the whole thing down at once without dealing with any fasteners in the dark.
Used over a diaper but under another cover, this may help to keep everything in place and thus keep poop off wool covers. A cotton pull-on over layer used to be a common thing to do to keep everything neat and contained years ago. It is a bit like turning a flat diaper in to a fitted diaper. There are so many different ways to do things! Different things for different reasons and purposes. Do what works for you.
These are a little better that store-bought underwear because of the shape, room in them and unisex styling.
NOTE: The Terracotta Tie Dye color runs slightly smaller than the other colors.
