Thirsties One-Size Pocket Diaper is ultra-absorbent, easy to use, and designed to provide a great fit for most babies from 8 to 40 lbs. Pairing the adjustable rise with signature leg gussets ensures messes will be contained whether your baby is tall, short, slim or chunky. The included two inserts provide eight thirsty layers of absorbency, making this a dependable diaper for both day and nighttime use. Made in the USA…how simply awesome is that?! The handy pocket design features openings on both sides of the diaper between the stay-dry fleece and waterproof layers. These openings allow for easy insert stuffing from either side of the diaper and make for easy cleaning. The included inserts feature three layers of serged microfiber snapped together with five serged layers of hemp jersey; eight layers in all! When using both inserts with a newborn simply fold down the hemp insert and snap together with the microfiber insert. Microfiber is a fast absorber designed to rest closest to your baby's skin (beneath the stay-dry fleece sleeve); hemp is a stable absorber and pairs perfectly behind the microfiber to add more absorbency and prevent compression leaking. Content: Outer: 100% polyester with waterproof urethane coating Inner: 100% polyester microfleece Newborn insert: 100% polyester–microfiber terry Full size insert: 55% Hemp, 45% Cotton. Proudly manufactured in the USA
Note from Karen: You can replace the microfiber insert with anything cotton if you choose to do that. Don't put microfiber next to skin. Use it only inside the pocket if you choose to use it. Microfiber is not the same thing as microfleece. The fleece is the stay-dry fabric and that does go next to baby's skin. Microfleece is lovely and soft and keeps skin dry.
We have been trying out different pocket diapers as we find we prefer them. We liked our Thirsties covers over prefolds so I wanted to try out their pocket style. Same quality and I really do like those double leg gussets. I can take or leave the double opening for the insert. Had some color running the first few washes but it left no permanent stains so no big deal. I'd buy more and recommend to others : )
We really like these pocket diapers. It’s our first foray into pocket diapers, up until now we have only used prefolds and covers, but we wanted to start night time cloth diapering our almost 15 month old son. It took us a few nights to get the right fit (while we were still learning we did have **** leaking up the back but haven’t experienced that since we got him on the right rise fit) but since then we have only had one night where he has soaked through. Other than that they have done a great job containing everything. We only use them at bedtime and wash every other day and there are no stains or smells and I love the cute night time designs. I also found that with the pocket diapers he has had less rash—no rash to be exact, even after wearing them all night!! They are easy to stuff and wash and put on.
This is a great and effective pocket diaper. I'll be buying more of these in the future because of the great double gussets and soft fleece. I definitely wouldn't complain if this diaper was the only kind I owned. However, I only gave this four stars because I don't like using microfiber. If I could get Thirsties to change anything, it would be to substitute the microfiber insert with something like GMD's sherpa or hemp doublers. I currently use a GMD hemp doubler along with the included hemp cotton insert and they work great together.
I am not usually a fan of pockets (I don't like stuffing) but when our Thirsties Natural All-in-Ones started getting too snug in the waist on my older toddlers (2 and 4 years old), we decided to try these because I heard they were a bit more generously sized. So glad we did! My boys both have ample growing room (they fit in the middle rise with just a few snaps showing at 28 and 33 lbs), but the diaper itself is trim fitting and plenty absorbent. We usually use both inserts it comes with but can actually get away with just the hemp on my non-heavy wetter. It is our go-to diaper for long car rides or naps because of its absorbency. A bit tricky to stuff at first as it gets narrow in the middle but I found stuffing front to back made it easier for some reason. Love that these are made in the USA, too!
