Prefolds are easy to wash and durable. They are plant-based. Cotton is a plant, whic his a natural fiber, unlike polyester which comes from petroleum or bamboo which is really a rayon and very chemically processed. Cotton is a quick-absorber. Immediate absorption means fewer leaks.
There are many ways to use prefold cloth diapers. Fold in thirds and lay in a cover, stuff the medium in pocket diaper at full unsnapped rise or wrap around baby and fasten. Another great use is as an inexpensive washable changing pad. It absorbs when you need to unlike a polyester changing pad that doesn't absorb at all. Lay under baby on the changing table. If you own them, you will use them in so many ways.
*Prepping means preparing the diapers for the first use - doing the initial wash cycles before using. You still have to wash them through a few times, like you would with any new product, but these don't need as many cycles as the unbleached organic version need before they are ready use on the baby. Thus, these are faster to prep ("prep" means prepare).
Speaking of prepping, Medium is the "universal size". Of course it is big on a newborn, but it fits for a very long time. Even if you don't plan to cloth diaper, have a dozen or so medium prefolds on hand for just-in-case. When you can wash the diaper, you don't have to worry about supply chain issues and such. They are excellent rags for so many things.
Replace your stinky microfiber inserts with these at the full unsnapped rise setting. Many babies can make it overnight with one medium prefold as the insert in pocket diaper.

These diapers are certified to Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex, as are all Cloth-eez brand cotton products. Additionally, this version of the prefold diapers is made of organic cotton. We purchase certified organic cotton which is then woven to our specifications, then cut, folded and sewn to become these beautiful diapers. Only the cotton itself is organic, not the entire process. We are both humble and proud to achieve the OEKO-TEX-100 certification of the diapers. This white version has already had the natural cotton oils removed using a peroxide based, chlorine-free whitening process without optical brighteners. Fewer preparation wash cycles are needed since we have already removed the natural cotton oils. The organic unbleached version still has the natural cotton oils and is tan in color.
