Using a pail liner decreases or eliminates the need to scrub out the inside of the pail. I never scrub out my pail, but I do put it in the sun to deodorize it occasionally. I think it is a good idea to put the pail outside in the sun once in a while if you can because UV rays really do freshen up the pail itself without any scrubbing at all.
Looking for a diaper pail? We don't sell them because any garbage pail without a lid or with a lid that is not airtight works well. Yes, I do mean NOT airtight. Airtight diaper storage is bad. The pail does need some air circulation.

After doing much research trying to figure out a cloth diapering pail situation (so many options, ugh!), I ended up purchasing two of these and a 5 gallon bucket. It works great!! While I do have a lid, I keep it off most of the time and I've never smelled a thing. I highly recommend this, especially for those looking for a more economical option like I was. Using covers and prefolds, in this newborn phase I can fit two days worth of diapers in it.
When my husband was intimidated by changing a tiny wriggling human (instead of the stuffed polar bear he practiced on), he decided we needed to be a hybrid diaper household. Low and behold my large trash pail become dedicated to disposable diapers. Mama and Grandma use cloth so we still needed a bin. Since this has become a habit, another review mentioned using an IKEA pail and the mini liner. It works great! We have two mini liners that we rotate and use to keep the cloth diapers contained until I wash. It's perfect for two days worth! The product has the Thirsties' quality you expect. Washes with the GMD prefolds and other Thirsties' covers! Hang to dry!
This is the perfect size for one or two days of diapers. It keeps the smell to a minimum. It would also be nice to have a couple different small diaper pails if you change diapers in different rooms. I only use cloth part time so we don’t need a large diaper pail.
First time cloth diapering, followed the other review and bought an ikea pail with lid as well which works perfectly with this liner. The liner is just the right size to signal when its time to a do a wash. Bought a second liner for when the first is in the wash/drying. Quality of liner and the elastic are really nice, can't imagine anything to improve this product.
Thank you for your review! Remember to keep the lid off the pail almost all of the time to prevent bacteria growth. Keeping the lid off allows air and light exposure - bacteria loves dark, damp, airless places. Bacteria growth is what causes most diaper pail odor and diaper rash. The pail is lovely and the lid is great for when company comes over, but for the most part it's best to keep the lid off. Thanks again!
I bought two of these to use with our paper towel alternatives. It’s the perfect size to hold four dozen of them. We don’t even need a pail as we used the little snap tab to attach it to a door knob.
