size small celery on 3.5 month old 13 pound baby, over unfastened Cloth-eez yellow edge prefold.
XSmall on a 2 week old. This is really a nice cover in XSmall, because it's roomy enough to make it really easy to put on over any kind of diaper. Easy is good! A Flat Diaper is under this one. Not all newborn covers can do that. They are also great over orange edge prefolds, fastened or unfastened. With folding down you can get the yellow edge prefolds into these (but I don't recommend it, orange fit nicer on newborns, but you can do it if you want to for saving money) They are also nice over any fitted diapers we sell. These are very nice covers!
XSmall, 2 weeks old, about 6 pounds, over small flat birdseye diaper.
below is 9 month old:
Size Small celery on 16 pound 9 month old. I got it on her, but really it is too small on her, in my opinion. I think it's not comfortable for her when she sits up because it's too tight now. Other moms might say this fits fine. Fit is a matter of opinion and preferences. It is a trimmer fit this way. It is shown over a snappied yellow edge Cloth-eez prefold.
Size Medium butter on the same 16 pound 9 month old, over the same yellow edge prefold. This is a tremendous size jump, but I like this fit on her much better. She has plenty of growing room. It might fit her all the way to training, perhaps.
Medium on same baby, same day. Plenty of room, comfy in all the many positions of baby.
Roomy but works well. Medium on same 16 pound 9 month old. These wrap around the leg lower than Bummis Supers. The style and sizing are different. See this baby in a medium Bummis Super Brite.
age 10 months, 18 pounds. Ocean.
What fits with what? Thirsties size changes are at different places than Bummis Supers. Thirsties run a bit larger, taller at waist and lower on the leg. That is, the change from small to medium in Bummis is around 15 pounds, but for Thirsties it's about 18 pounds. So here is a picture showing the prefolds in the covers. You can choose to size-up the prefolds but you'll need to smoosh down or fold down the extra length to fit them in. (See the arrows: XS with small yellow edge prefold, and medium with large brown edge prefold.) Many moms do that and like the bigger diapers in there to get more absorbency and to skip buying a size of diapers. The diapers come down a bit in rise when you fasten the prefold, making them easier to fit the larger diapers in the smaller covers. I prefer matching the prefold to the cover size so that they do not need folding down or smooshing down or tucking in (the combinations without the arrow pointing to them), but do what works for you. Either way works. Thirsties also fit over just about any fitted diaper.
