8 pounds, 6 ounces, 2 weeks old. Size newborn. These are little covers that are outgrown between 9 and 10 pounds. Great for the cord stump time! Just pull it up in back a little more than shown here and it be lower in front and sit nicely below the cord stump. I often have moms tell me these are "the only thing that actually fits right" for the first few weeks on average sized newborns, over preemie prefolds or orange edge newborn prefolds. This cover in size newborn is too tiny to fit over fitted diapers, in think. Shown here over a trifolded (unfastened) orange edge prefold. Also good on large preemies.
Below: Ready to change the diaper on a 2 week old. Baby has Bummis Super Whisper newborn over unfastened orange edge Cloth-eez. Next to baby is another Orange Edge Cloth-eez Prefold trifolded into a newborn Super Brite in blue.
Just put it under baby, bring it up between legs and fasten the tabs. Easy! Below is same baby after the change. The red edge prefold under baby serves as a changing pad.

"Can I skip size newborn?" Well, maybe if you don't mind the cover big at first. This is the same 2 week old wearing blue above now wearing a size small white the same day. I think it's too big looking, but will it work? Yes, on this baby it will. Newborn babies come in many sizes. This baby was a week "late" and 21 inches long (tall), birthweight 7 pounds 7 ounces.

Below is a large blue on a different, larger toddler, 19 months old, about 27.5 pounds:
Red edge prefold folded in thirds and layed in the cover, then just bring it up between baby's legs and fasten. A brown edge can fit in the medium. It's longer but it makes it without folding but just push it down a bit if needed to make sure the diaper is completely under the cover.
20 months, size medium in white. This baby can also fit a large, see same baby below in yellow in large. About 26 pounds. Large comes up much higher in the back and is wider. Under both of these, medium and large, is an unpinned Cloth-eez Brown edge prefold diaper. I prefer the fit of the large on this baby, but some moms might prefer medium. These do run a little bit smaller than the Bummis Super Whispers, but just a tiny bit.
