doug1.jpg (27745 bytes) My office as it was in 2001. This is where, I, Karen, spends a lot of time, but in this picture Doug, my wonderful husband and ace Information Technology man, is doing something for me, or maybe surfing, I can't remember.   There is the laser printer which prints out your receipts, and next to it is the shipping label thermal printer, and to the left of the laser printer is the mulit-mailbox fancy answering machine, and I love my "easy on the eyes" HP monitor.  In the background you can see a small photocopier, and of course speakers, for listening to Rebecca St. James and other Christian music.

us.jpg (15299 bytes)   Here I am next to our kiddos when we were on vacation one fall 2001.  Yes, snow in the fall!  You can see the red marks around my son's mouth and on his cheeks showing a reaction to something.   He still has very sensitive skin.

2003 - packing stay dry hemp doublers with a 1 year old on my back.

Time goes by. Kids grow up so fast! This picture is summer 2006. My 10 year old is making the postage labels for the Prioirty boxes. Don't worry. All addresses are imported to the postage programs so no need to worry about mistakes. It's all organized and streamlined. You might recognize the email confirmation she is about to send on the second screen. It's a family business, so everyone helps, even the kids. Even my 3 year old has a few things she can do to help. My husband often packs orders for an hour or two at night after I've already gone to sleep. My mom helps a lot, too. She does most of my inventory receiving and some order packing. And my mother in law does a ton, also. My son and older daughter do picking (gathering items to be packed, which are then checked before boxed), and my sister and my dad often take the pre-sorted big orange Priority Bags to the post office for us. There is a lot of work to do! I work far more hours now than I ever did back when I had a full time job. It's fun, and it's teamwork. It's not just Karen at GMD, but our entire family and even extended family. No way could I do all this by myself!
