Kissa's Wool Lovers wool diaper cover

The cotton underneath soaks up the moisture quickly. Wool first repels. But if pushed, with a soaking diaper under it, it will absorb moisture. This is great because when moisture under a regular cover becomes too much, the moisture has nowhere else to go but out. Under wool, the wool will take up and absorb that excess moisture. Then just let it air-dry and reuse it many times, sometimes for weeks before washing. Since wool also absorbs, that means virtually no leaks with wool. Plus it breathes so well. This is why wool is so wonderful at night. It's also great in the day, but it is a little thicker than a regular cover. It's so soft. I love how it feels to hold my baby in wool. No scratchiness. Just soft. I love wool! Natural, breathable, soft, lovely! 100% cotton with wool over it is my absolute favorite. It does need hand washing, in proper woolcare products, but it's not often if you are able to keep poop off the cover. Wool is water-resistant and then it absorbs, which is not the same thing as waterproof, so be realistic, but the breathability can't be matched by any waterproof "breathable" synthetic regular cover.
I actually enjoy washing wool. It's easy, I like the way wool feels so I enjoy it, plus it makes me feel like I've actually accomplished something when I get my wools washed. I do have quite a few wools in rotation but honestly I don't wash my wools more than once a month for a baby, more often for overnight toddlers/preschoolers, (unless poop gets on the cover, but with a little timing and a good pinning job, that's not too often and sometimes I can just spot clean the spot without washing the whole cover). While wool can be used full time, and I love wool and mostly use wool, I do tend to use a regular synthetic cover for long car rides and when I go out, for trimness under clothes and also to avoid carseat compression wickthoughs.
Want a super duper nighttime cover setup? Pair this with Disana Wool Leggings as pj bottoms. Wool with wool pj bottoms over plenty of cotton equals a dry bed.
2 weeks old, Kissas Wool Lovers size small. Plenty of growing room, 8 pounds 6 ounces. Shown over the pinnned orange edge unbleached Cloth-eez prefold below:
Any fastened or fitted diaper works under this cover.
baby was so comfortable when we put the Kissas on that he fell asleep right in the middle of our diaper-changing photo session. Mom and Dad said, "What is that blanket? We need one of those! He's never fallen alseep just like that before. He must be very comfortable in that wool cover on that blanket." It's a Snugglewool Blanket. Babies really do soothe well on Snugglewools. I'm convinced, from my experience, that babies love natural fibers! I think they are more comfortable in cotton an wool than they are in synthetics. I love wool!

There is a little bit of elastic stitching in the waist section. This is nice so it doesn't get all stretched out over time. If you want only wool touching baby, turn the cover inside out. Which way is inside out? I couldn't tell, so I had to ask Kissaluvs. The "correct" way is to have the tag on the outside. I like it inside out, with the tag on the inside and the elastic stitch on the outside. Either way is fine, in my opinion. You'll see some of the pictures have the tag inside and some outside, because it really does not matter which way it goes on.
It's ok to size-up if you are in the upper end of the weight range. It is narrower in the crotch than the Disana, so if bulking up for nighttime absorbency, do size up. I think it runs smaller than the sizes listed. It definitely is soft. It's trimmer and less bulky than a similar-looking cover. Very soft and cozy. Made of fine Australian merino wool. Made in Korea.
