New! Cord dip on Super Snap size newborn, snap version only. The cord dip is only a tiny bit lower in front. Yes, maybe a little better for those first couple of days with the cord, but that makes the cover a little shorter in front so there is a bit less room for the diaper. 10 weeks old, almost 12 pounds, size small Froggie Pond, over an Infant Fitted Diaper.

10 days old, 7 pounds 0 ounces, size newborn. Shown here over a Kissaluv size 0. The baby below in the the Andy Pandy print is the same baby as in this picture shown 7 weeks later. As a newborn, this baby definitely needed size newborn and could not have skipped it and started in size small. A 9 or more pound newborn can usually start in size small.

8 weeks old, 10 pounds, Bummis Super Print Andy Pandy size small. She is just into this size and has lots of growing room. A Snappi fastened infant prefold is under this.
This 5 week old is 11 pounds, 11 ounces and is already in a size small Bummis Super Snap. He's quite big. He's actually a little larger than the 10 week old in the pink shirt and small Froggie at the very top of this page. He really is big. Babies come in so many different sizes and shapes, and they all grow at different rates. Often the young larger babies, like this one, fit the Super Snap better than the Super Whisper (Aplix).
But most babies, perhaps about 75%, get a better fit from the Super Whisper. The Super Snap fits a little wider and larger in the legs, I think.
Medium Andy Pandy on an 18.5 pound 5 1/2 month old. Mom has an infant size prefold (green edge) diaper under this. Many would choose Regular size under their Medium Bummis, but since he's still pretty young, the infant size prefolds are still working for this baby. A doubler would help if more aborbency is needed
. It depends on how heavy of wetter baby is, whether infant prefold alone, or with a doubler, or a regular premium prefold is needed under a Bummis Super size Medium. 
Same baby as above, 5.5 months old. Tabs crossed over in front. Infant prefolds don't come up high in the front. The prefold is not under the velcro closure but is lower than a regular premium prefold would be. This mom is in college and is loving cloth
diapering and using the University laundry facility.

8 months old, size medium Super Snap about to be put on, 20 pounds. Snappi fastening the prefold under these covers is not necessary, but you can. Bummis Super Snap size medium below, same baby.

I love snaps on chubby sitting babies because snaps can never scratch babies's tummy or legs.
A big 4 month old 19 pound baby. Under this is a Brown Edge Cloth-eez prefold, snappi fastened. Some babies are big! This baby is larger for fit than the 24 pound 17 month old in the Star Baby cover with the yellow shirt above. You need to consider weight, shape and age when choosing sizes. Sometimes babies who are big when young
get taller as the get older, and continue to fit the same size. Sometimes babies need size large at the chubby 6-8 months old age or pre-crawling stage. Then when they
start crawling and walking and getting taller, they slim down and need mediums again at 13 months old or so.
Shapes change and every baby is unique.
Size Large on a 22.5 pound 17 month old. She probably can fit a medium also, but the large works already on her with growing room. Sizes do overlap and the shape of the baby matters.
