Organic cotton inside, plus polyester at the edges that helps stop leaks. It's not all-cotton next to baby because of the polyester at the edges, but it mostly is and they are very effective. We don't sell any microfiber products. But the Elemental is organically grown cotton inside, so it meets GMD's cotton-on-the-inside standards. High quality, great fit and a great design. Does it REALLY adjust like they say it does? I don't think it will fit all 35 pounders because fit also depends on shape, but it does fit for a broad age range. Like other one-size items, cotton does have a useful life span. Just like socks get holes, so will any cotton item that gets used and washed over and over, and that includes all brands and styles cotton cloth diapers. This very high quality and you get good, long use from it, but cotton is still cotton and will eventually wear out. Be realistic. Don't let this realistic warning scare you though. This is the best of it's kind, I think. It has very high use-value and a good warranty. I just don't want people to think you can buy ANY kind diapers once and then cloth diaper your next 3 kids with the same diapers. That is not realistic. Because this is such a great-fitting and easy to use diaper, it becomes the go-to diaper that tends to get used all the time. Thus, even though it's the most expensive diaper we sell, it is still a great value.
